Because of the nasty weather forecast here in Jersey last night, I switched the horses back over to the winter schedule (in at night). But just yesterday morning they were coming in from being out over night and looking pretty tired. Here’s Delilah…she looks like she’s ready for her nap. Well, she got a nice long nap last night all tucked in her stall safe from the weather.
As promised, fence fixing started this weekend (yay)! And I showed up as SUCH a fashion statement for the job! As I ALWAYS say, the horses could care less how I’m dressed (good thing!) Not only do I not match, but my shirt is 13 years old!! But the fence is fixed and the horses are so happy to have all that plush grass! Thanks John for the help digging!!
The weekend weather here in Jersey was absolutely picture perfect! So I let the horses stay out a little longer on Saturday morning. Here’s Patty enjoying the nice fall morning.
Many of you have never been very close to a horse that’s moving at a pretty fast clip, so I thought I’d try to capture what it looks/feels like when the horses go trotting or galloping past me when I turn them out. First I turn Centanni out and Jack follows right behind. You can’t feel the thundering hoof beats, but I think you get the mindset….Ahhhhh!! FREEDOM!!

When I turned Delilah out last night, I noticed she had a broken post in her field. So I had to “fix” it. Nothing a little baling twine couldn’t fix until I can put in a new post! But look what I found hidden in the prickers!!
Anyone that knows me knows that I want a farm tractor SOOOOO badly. One of the vendors at the Sergeantsville Farmer’s Market was willing to bring his over and help me move some manure this weekend. I was so excited, I couldn’t stop giggling. (I know, I know…..) While he loaded my truck, his girls were busy in the barn visiting all the horses. Anyway, I spent the day on Sunday delivering free manure to family and friends. Thanks Bill!!!!
This weekend was the first weekend we didn’t have pony rides at the Sergeantsville Farmer’s Market
, so it’s back to work on the farm!!! Saturday’s project was to make a new door for the tackroom. Here are some pictures of the construction in progress. Thanks to Jim (who LOVES wood!) I got just the door I wanted!!! Thanks Jim!
Since we only have horses and dogs on our farm, I decided it was fun to show other farm animals today. These guys live on Rutger’s Farm and love it when people visit!!
