Tribute to Leo
I’m very sad to say that we lost a dear friend this weekend. Leo suffered a broken ankle on Saturday. After much consideration by an equine surgeon and many tears Leo was sadly put to rest. All of us at Keona Farm will miss Leo dearly, but mostly we’d like to console Alyssa who lost her best friend.

Fun facts about Praying Mantis
I was taking Maverick out and this little girl flew straight into me. We don’t see too many praying mantis but occassionally we do. This is the second one I’ve seen in as many weeks, so I looked it up to find out more info. The most common fun fact about a praying mantis is how she bites off the males head after mating. Well, if you believe what you read online, that’s true. I learned 2 new things about them…they are NOT endangered in North America, and I also learned that the green ones are the girls. The brown ones are the boys.

Harvest Fest & Community Day!
Saturday was a full day of pony gigs for us. We had Harvest Fest at Sergeantsville Farmer’s Market in the morning and then we had Community Day all afternoon. Here’s one little guy getting his first pony ride at Community Day. Thanks to Jen, Kate, Jim and Barb who made it possible for Keona Farm to be in 2 places at once this weekend!
