Centanni, Jack, Chevy and Delilah had an appointment with the farrier last night. We were a bit late with that. Made quite the mess! Their hooves look good!
Even Mav gets a rain sheet to put on when its raining out. He doesn’t much like wearing it but at least it keeps him dry while he’s wandering around outside!
After I groomed Chevy last night I could finally see his summer coat!! You can see how shiny his shoulder is compared to the rest of him. He’s got a LOT more shedding to do, but we’re almost there!!
Even though Chevy has lived with us for many years now, I still marvel at how cute he is! He’s my boy! Ya gotta just love that hairdo!!! We call him Tina Turner. 🙂 (hope she doesn’t mind).
Well, it’s starting. The horses have begun shedding. I usually end up grooming the horse and then grooming myself cause I’m wearing most of their hair by the time I’m done!
We were expecting a Nor’Easter here in Jersey and it was awfully windy / rainy out yesterday so I let the horses stay in. Last night it wasn’t too bad out so I let them out for a few hours. Here are some shots of how that looked.
Chevy has such a thick winter coat that he gets covered in snow but doesn’t feel the cold. Horses fluff their fur up to trap the warm air in and keep them warm. But on the outside none of his body heat escapes so the snow doesn’t melt leaving him with a blanket of snow.
Cartwright absolutely LOVES to play whenever Chevy comes in. Here he is taking a cheap shot at Chevy when he’s not looking (actually Chevy was prepared and was showing Cartwright his better side!!)
