Jack-o

jackoNot ANY grass out there for these guys, but it doesn’t stop them from trying to find it! It’s just what a horse does naturally!

Ahhhhh MUD!!!

There’s an old adage in the horse biz that says if a horse can roll over his withers (back), he increases his value by $100 each time. It appears Jack is worth $100 more than he was yesterday!

Everybody LOVES Jack!

Saturday was our final pony party of 2012. Hanna, (who’s mom used to own Jack) got to hang out with him again cause she spotted for us. Here she is saying hello to him and telling him how much she misses him. She hasn’t seen him in over a year!

Winterizing….

There are some horsey personal hygiene things we must take care of before it gets too cold. It was pretty toasty in the barn last night so we took care of those things for my two boys.

Riding

This weekend the weather was so nice here in Jersey. Nice enough to take the horses out for some exercise! Here’s Katie with Patty (right) and Katlyn with Jack (left).

Harvest Fest & Community Day!

Saturday was a full day of pony gigs for us. We had Harvest Fest at Sergeantsville Farmer’s Market in the morning and then we had Community Day all afternoon. Here’s one little guy getting his first pony ride at Community Day. Thanks to Jen, Kate, Jim and Barb who made it possible for Keona Farm to be in 2 places at once this weekend!

Turnout

Many of you have never been very close to a horse that’s moving at a pretty fast clip, so I thought I’d try to capture what it looks/feels like when the horses go trotting or galloping past me when I turn them out. First I turn Centanni out and Jack follows right behind. You can’t feel the thundering hoof beats, but I think you get the mindset….Ahhhhh!! FREEDOM!!
